Come and show your resourcefulness alongside us and give new meaning to your career in a dynamic, innovative and humane environment!

Internship topic: Algorithmic improvement / module integration of an IC parasitic extraction tool (Calibre xL).

Your Mission

Siemens is seeking an intern to join our Calibre xL team, specializing in parasitic inductance extraction for microelectronics. This internship is aimed at students passionate about software development and interested in numerical modeling/simulation of on-chip electromagnetic interactions.

About Calibre xL : https://eda.sw.siemens.com/en-US/ic/calibre-design/circuit-verification/xl/

In this context:

  • You will design and implement new components in the Calibre source code.
  • You will learn about electrical circuits used in microelectronics and analyze the scientific literature in computational electromagnetics to accurately and efficiently model the parasitic interactions of these circuits.
  • You will work on optimizing large linear systems, reducing linear models, iterative methods, and reconditioning, etc., in order to reduce the runtime of our solutions.

By joining Siemens and our team, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Contribute to the improvement of an industrial tool used in the design of integrated circuits.
  • Deepen your knowledge in C++ and Python/Matlab; familiarize yourself with a professional development environment involving various fields, and participate in the development of a Calibre source code shared by teams in France, the United States, Egypt, etc.
  • Understand the role of electromagnetic disturbances and simulation in the design of integrated circuits. Accurately model them using numerical methods to address specific challenges faced by clients designing the latest processors and integrated circuits. Improve your knowledge in linear algebra and optimization of linear systems.
  • Work within an experienced team, benefit from personalized support, and evolve in an international context.
  • An internship at Siemens is an excellent opportunity to enrich your CV and prepare for a future career in the industry.

This 6-month internship is based in Meylan (38) and is available from January 2025.

Keys to success

  • You are pursuing higher education in engineering (master’s degree or equivalent experience) with a focus on electronics, physics, mathematics, or software development, in France.
  • You have good proficiency in C++, Python and/or Matlab. Experience in software development with Linux and Git is a plus.
  • You have a good level in mathematics and physics. Knowledge of linear algebra and numerical methods. Knowledge of electronics and/or electromagnetics is a plus.
  • You are rigorous, autonomous, have good analytical skills, are curious, and a quick learner.
  • Your interpersonal and communication skills in both French and English enable effective collaboration within the team.
