Welcome to the Application Page for the 2020 RBC Capital Markets Diversity Scholarship
RBC Capital Markets is committed to fostering workplace diversity. Through the RBC Capital Markets Diversity Scholarship, our aim is to recognize and reward outstanding Canadian undergraduate students that are interested in pursuing a career in banking and finance.
Scholarship Details
Up to eight Scholarships will be awarded. Each recipient will receive:
- An offer of paid employment for a 2021 Summer Analyst internship at RBC Capital Markets in Investment Banking or Global Markets, in the Toronto office
- A scholarship of C$5,000 towards tuition for your final year of studies upon acceptance of the employment offer, which will be paid at the beginning of your Summer 2021 internship period
- A pairing with a senior professional from RBC Capital Markets, who will serve as a mentor
RBC Capital Markets Diversity Scholarship Timeline:
- Applications open April 6, 2020
- Due to the uncertainty related to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are currently not keeping an application deadline. More details to come in May/June 2020
- Applications will be reviewed by a team of business leaders at RBC Capital Markets
- Shortlisted applicants will then be invited to participate in first round phone interviews and final round in-person interviews in Toronto (any pre-approved travel costs will be covered by RBC Capital Markets)
- All Scholarship recipients will join the RBC Capital Markets Investment Banking or Global Markets Summer Class of 2021
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the Diversity Scholarship you must meet the following criteria:
- Identify as visible minority, female, Indigenous background, LGBT+, a veteran, and/or a person with disabilities
- Currently enrolled in a full-time undergraduate program at a university in Canada, graduating in December 2021 or Spring 2022
- Available to work full-time between May and August 2021, after which you would continue your full-time undergraduate studies in September 2021
- Varied extra-curricular participation and community involvement
- Canadian Citizen, permanent resident of Canada, or individuals who are legally eligible to work in Canada for any employer until, and including, September 2021
Application Directions (please read carefully before submitting):
To submit a complete application please prepare one PDF file with the following four items:
A 300 word personal essay in support of your candidacy, explaining your interest in a career in banking and finance
A summary of three leadership or volunteer activities/projects you have been part of (current or former). Please list the following for each activity/project: (a) title of the activity; (b) start/end dates; (c) hours per month of commitment; and (d) description of your contribution (200 words max per activity/project)
Updated resume
Official or unofficial transcripts of your academic records from your first two years of university studies. If it is not possible to receive an official transcript by the deadline which includes your Winter 2020 grades, please include an unofficial transcript which includes grades for this semester.
