Job Summary

The Women’s Resource Center Assistant Director, under the supervision and direction of the Gender and Sexuality Advocacy Director, is responsible for supervising the daily operations of the Women’s Resource Center (WRC). The Women’s Resource Center promotes the education, empowerment, and agency of women-identified students on campus through the understanding that their experience is not solely defined by gender identity or expression, but by a multitude of intersecting identities. The Center serves as a space that prioritizes the needs of and issues pertaining to women-identified students at UWM while also serving as a resource for all students and campus community members. The Assistant Director will be responsible for developing and managing programs, educational outreach and services at the WRC and supervise student staff that plan and implement activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Demonstrated experience engaging in women’s and gender advocacy work.
  • Experience working in communities with diverse and intersecting identities, including race, sexuality, culture, and ethnicity

Preferred Qualifications

  • Evidence of Continuing Education (Includes certificates, CEU, field-related training, advanced degrees).
  • A minimum of 1 year developing and executing small and large events to engage students or community.
  • Demonstrated experience of applied action, training or research in fields of feminism, intersectional identity work, gender, violence prevention, or community activism.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging, leading and empowering a team and/or students, ideally in a higher-ed setting.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully managing communication, social media and web content.
