Job Title: Director of Network Construction Reports to: Vice President of Customer Onboarding Location: Coral Springs, FL The Low Down: At Blue Stream Fiber we provide customers with substantially better Internet, TV and Phone service via the latest fiber-optic networks. The Director of Network Construction plays a key role by overseeing the construction of hundreds of miles of new fiberoptic network each year to serve residential homes and businesses. This position will lead our construction team and provide the oversight, leadership and attention to detail to ensure that we build the best networks in the industry. What your days will look like : · Work with your team and vendors to develop plans for each network build including designs, BOMs, budgets and contractor selection. Assign and work alongside of a Construction Coordinator to oversee the day to day execution of the project. Ensure that all project specifications are met on time and on budget. · Develop and maintain a list of preferred vendors for underground, in building and pole line construction. Set project and piece rate prices for vendors through MSAs. Enforce contract terms and timelines. · Set standards for construction and work with your team to do quality control checks on each project at regular intervals to ensure compliance with standards. · Meet with home owner associations, businesses and local governments to review the construction process and to address questions and concerns. Director Responsibilities: · Hire, lead and coach you team of project managers, coordinators and other employees as assigned. · Maintain relationships with key vendors. · Ensure that all construction invoices match project plans and BOMs and that spending is in alignment with budgets. · Build and maintain positive relationships with utilities, developers, permitting agencies and government officials. · Communicate with key internal and external stakeholders to provide updates about construction progress. · Coordinate permitting and make-ready process. · Analyze needs and designs for construction projects. · Handle customer and contractor problems related to construction. · Perform site inspections for quality control for in house and contract labor. · Adhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable. · Perform other duties as requested. What you bring to the table: · 4 years of network construction management experience in the fiber optic or cable TV industry · Experience working across departments to foster strong working relationships between teams. · Knowledge of Fiber and Coaxial network construction techniques · Knowledge of underground and aerial network construction · Ability to prioritize and organize effectively · Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks · Demonstrated leadership qualities · Ability to manage emergencies and rapidly changing priorities, and to effectively direct the work activities of others under all work conditions · Ability to supervise and motivate others · Familiarity and compliance with safety standards · Ability to work independently · Ability to read general to complex system layouts from blueprints · Knowledge of basic mathematics and electronics · Knowledge of National Electric Code and National Electrical Safety Code Must be able to read, write and speak English, analyze and interpret general technical procedures, or governmental regulations; ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference; ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations; ability to define problems, collect data, analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables; ability to handle confidential material and information; individual must be organized, able to multi-task under pressure. Education/Experience : Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) and/or related experience. Computer Skills : Microsoft software including Power Point, Internet, e-mail, and construction and design software as required. The employee generally works in the main office and may have to travel 20 days per month to active construction sites; overtime may be required.
