Position overview
As the Senior Research and Development (R&D) Scientist/Engineer for Innovation, Technology, and Quality (ITQ) you will be responsible for leading key technical and innovation efforts in support of our HÄAGEN-DAZS business.
In this role, you will be a member of our HÄAGEN-DAZS Technology Development Team and have the unique opportunity to use your deep technical knowledge and know-how to create incremental & transformational innovations and provide ad-hoc technical solutions to enable growth.
The right candidate for this role will leverage ingredients science and/or ice cream formulation, physico-chemical & microstructural expertise, and strong strategic & influencing skills to identify new opportunities for our business and drive execution of R&D projects with a high level of cross-functional partnership.
This role will provide you opportunities to lead international projects, pioneer ideas, create competitive advantages, manage external partnerships and work with cross functional & global leaders for an Iconic Brand.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead technology development initiatives and advance Innovation development pipelines including the identification of new opportunity areas in line with business strategies, experimentation & incubation of technology-enabled concepts at lab & pilot plant scales, assessment of industrialization & commercialization pathways with the application teams and documentation of critical data, plans and learnings all along
- Apply Ingredients & Formulation expertise in addition to analytical & microstructural characterization skills to drive innovation opportunities
- Create value by building & managing a relevant and diverse network, utilizing key relationships to solicit external expertise, identify opportunities and leverage external capabilities to solve technical needs, accelerate results and drive differentiated solutions
Other Accountabilities
- Leverage digital and traditional approaches to advance technical possibilities, drive technical learning and capture big business impact
- Work collaboratively with multiple cross-functional stakeholders, across ITQ, Marketing, Sourcing and Supply Chain to deliver new or better technical solutions
- Anticipate and plan budget needs for external collaborations to accelerate technology exploration and development and enable agile prototyping and scale-up studies
- Display technical curiosity and a growth mindset by promoting fundamental scientific principles
- Manage multiple projects, agile, able to prioritize and be flexible to rapidly changing business needs

Knowledge/Experience
- Master’s degree or PhD in Food Science/Technology or relevant technical/engineering discipline, ideally on ingredients (proteins, carbohydrates, fats & oils) functionalities and/or food microstructures
- Extensive experience (10yrs or more) in food industry. Experience within Dairy and/or the ice cream industry will be much appreciated
- Familiar with product/process development, stage/gate process, and agile innovation approach
- Experience on physical/rheological, chemical & microstructural characterization of food ingredients & products through traditional and advanced techniques
- Demonstrated strong project management experience, agile leadership & ability to pivot quickly
