As a Migration & Modernization Specialist Solutions Architect at AWS, you’ll build technical relationships with customers of all sizes and develop solutions to accelerate their cloud migration journey. You will operate as their trusted advisor, ensuring they get the most out of the cloud at every stage of their journey. You will engage with senior customer leaders and technical stakeholders to help them achieve increased agility and significant business value by leading their migration to AWS.
You’ll manage the technical relationship between AWS and our customers, making recommendations on security, cost, performance, reliability and operational efficiency to accelerate their large scale Migration projects.
Internally, you will be the voice of the customer, sharing their needs and wants to inform the roadmap of AWS features. Externally, The Migration & Modernization Specialist Solutions Architect works with senior enterprises, helping them to effectively lead their migration assessment readiness and strategy.
In this role, your creativity will link technology to tangible solutions, with the opportunity to define cloud-native reference architectures for a variety of use cases.
You will participate in the creation and sharing of best practices, technical content and new reference architectures (e.g. white papers, code samples, blog posts) and evangelize and educate about AWS technology (e.g. through workshops, user groups, meetups, public speaking, online videos or conferences).
The purpose of the EMEA Migration & Modernization Specialist SA (MMSA) team is to accelerate our customers’ cloud migration journeys on to the AWS platform, plus the subsequent IT Transformation required in terms of people, process and tooling. Migration & Modernization SAs are the most ‘generalist’ of all the Specialist SA’s given the variety of migration scenarios and technologies they encounter, and can come from a wide range of technology backgrounds and organizations (e.g. network, infra, devops, database, integration).
Candidates need to have a breadth and depth of experience in IT delivery and management processes, across all architectural layers and have an ability to orchestrate other specialists as needed to meet specific customer scenarios. They are also goaled against Scaling and Thought Leadership activities to look ahead into what we need in the Migration domain 2 years hence (e.g. discovery and migration automation tools, how we drive modernization post migration, how we move more of the value stream to AWS as a result of initial migration). As much as they are possibly the most generalist of the specialists, they are still expected to be hands on builders as all AWS SAs are. One of our tenets is ‘Show, Don’t Tell’.
The role is not focused on specific AWS services, as migration scenarios are incredibly varied. At minimum, the candidate does need to have a breadth of experience in large scale IT transformation projects which have taken organizations from an As-Is legacy IT state to a target To-Be state. Experience and knowledge in specific migration tools/services from partners or AWS is where Migration SAs do differentiate themselves from other SAs. This is advantageous for an applicant to have, but is not a pre-requisite as it can be learned – experience of multiple migration and transformation projects coupled with excellent listening and communication skills is of much greater value.
The successful candidate needs to be very comfortable with high volume, varied engagements given the investment and focus on Migration & Modernization across AWS. They also need to be able to manage a complex stakeholder base, both with large customers, and internally across the multiple migration programs we have.
This role covers the France region and you would be working with Business Development, Professional Services, and our Partner teams to ensure successful management of customer progression.
