DESCRIPTION

The French Marketplace team at Amazon is looking for a talented, customer-obsessed and results-oriented Category Merchant Manager in the Hardlines business (Home, Furniture, Toys, Appliances, Home Improvement, Lawn & Garden…) to help shape the future of our marketplace.

The Category Merchant Manager will support the growth of Hardlines product categories and drive initiatives to increase traffic and revenues. You will perform complex business analyses and reporting and be involved in projects that contribute to expand product selection and Marketplace to build best-in-class customer experiences.

The Category Merchant Manager will have several key responsibilities including:
– Helping identify categories growth opportunities and contribute to scalable initiatives that support this growth at European level
– Issuing recommendations to improve customer and seller experience and create new or enhanced experiences
– Working closely with Leadership on annual and quarterly planning as well as other periodic reports

The successful candidate must be able to find creative solutions in an ambiguous environment, must strive in formulating and solving problems, and act as the voice of customers and sellers. You should be passionate about Amazon categories and delivering new features that provide customers with an unparalleled shopping experience. You should be highly analytical and able to summarize data to make recommendations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or related areas with quantitative depth.
• English fluent speaker.
• 5+ years of work experience in a fast-paced environment, ideally in project/program management, marketing or sales.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to effectively multi-task and manage multiple projects in parallel.
• Strong data-driven decision-making skills, with demonstrated ability to dive deep into customer data and translate insights into opportunities.
• Solid written and verbal communication skills, ability to articulate ideas and persuade stakeholders. • Sound business judgment and a practical approach to getting things done.
• Excels at delivering results in a dynamic and ambiguous environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• SQL skills. Willingness to roll up your sleeves and learn SQL by doing.
• Demonstrated success in redesigning and automating business processes.
• MBA or other applicable advanced degree.
• Support and engagement experience with international technology and business teams in a highly-matrixed environment
