Join the EMEA Wholesale Credit Risk team, managing credit risk to Consumer, Healthcare and Retail sector corporate clients.

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced credit risk professional to join the Wholesale Credit Risk team. This is an excellent role to contribute to management of J.P. Morgan’s risk and to contribute to complex lending transactions.
As an Associate in the Consumer, Healthcare & Retail Wholesale Credit Risk EMEA team covering Commercial & Investment Bank clients, y ou will work closely with business partners across the region including Debt Capital Markets, Acquisition and Leveraged Finance, M&A, Corporate Bank, Markets, Treasury Services and Trade Finance.
Given the broad sector and client base covered, the team is focused on performing credit analysis on Investment Grade and Non-Investment Grade clients as well as structuring and documenting a wide variety of credit products. The role will benefit from flexible work arrangements, including work-from-home and office rotations.
Job responsibilities
- Leads in-depth due diligence processes and coordinates and produces concise and insightful credit memos with clear recommendations, which will be the basis on which credit decisions are made.
- Challenges industry teams on modelling assumptions and is able to understand key conclusions and devise appropriate downside scenarios.
- Understands loan documentation, including LMA standard and leveraged finance documents and key ISDA/CSA documentation. Demonstrate an ability to negotiate and prioritize various documentation terms and shows the ability to understand transaction structures.
- Cooperates closely at senior levels with a variety of areas within the Commercial & Investment Bank, including Coverage/GCB/CB, product specialists (DCM, LF, Trade, TSS), Markets (Derivative Sales), Capital Markets and M&A.
- Liaises regularly with Primary Credit Officers and Senior Credit Officers
- Prime responsibility for the pro-active management of exposure to a portfolio of names and industry sectors.
- Understands J.P. Morgan’s Risk management policies and related interactions with various stakeholders (including Regulators and Auditors), including local regulatory duties as required.
- Coaches and develops junior team members to bring them up the curve, both on the job and through trainings.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Must demonstrate first rate analytical and credit skills/judgment, with an intensive ‘hands on’ approach to digging into the details of credit and structure.
- First rate project management skills and demonstrable end to end ownership of work/projects.
- Be able to establish credibility and trust with clients, internal business partners, product specialists and credit officers, and to partner with them effectively.
- Proven coaching and development ability towards more junior colleagues.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Self-starting, result-driven, multi-tasking, risk-reward mindset and adaptable to change given the dynamic nature and timing of workflow.
- Significant experience in roles with relevant skills for this position.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Previous experience of reviewing and commenting on loan documentation/core corporate derivative documentation.
