This Category Manager role supports Retrofits, Expansions and Improvements (REI) across Amazon’s global operations network by developing and implementing procurement strategies. The individual in this role will manage internal and external relationships while managing RFx and supplier management activities.
We are seeking a leader with experience running sourcing events and supplier negotiations. The person in this role will coordinate with several teams across Amazon and will interact with general contractors, trade contractors, and professional services suppliers to satisfy organizational requirements. The position will work and partner with multiple teams to develop and execute category sourcing strategies, deliver savings and improve productivity across the category.

Key job responsibilities
– Execute category sourcing strategies, lead cross-functional sourcing events, negotiate with suppliers and execute contracts to optimize Amazon’s competitive position
– Drive appropriate relationships with category suppliers, with a principal objective of achieving the optimal solution and cost of ownership that meets the business’ goals supported by a culture of continuous improvement with performance benchmarks in use
– Manage category suppliers to proactively identify and execute opportunities
– Develop and implement Supplier Relationship Management activities to mitigate risk, improve performance and add value to Amazon
– Identify, achieve and report on savings and value targets for category activities
– Align with internal customers and understand the business application of the category
~30% travel including occasional international travel
German and French language skills would be advantageous
A day in the life
– Earn trust with internal customers across various levels and geographies
– Manage requests for Proposal (RFP), Information (RFI), and Quote (RFQ)
– Identify and qualify new construction service contractors for direct or indirect use at Amazon’s Operations Facilities
– Leverage existing procurement resources to benefit our internal customers
– Build a comprehensive understanding of Amazon’s change management and construction processes across multiple business units and geographies
– Understand problems, pull people together, and deliver results
– Own commercial relationship with General Contractors and other construction suppliers
About the team
Our team strives to be a single point of contact for procurement support to our stakeholders. We are finding ways to move faster and more efficiently than ever before to deliver upgrades to capacity and associate experience across Amazon’s Operations network. Our team supports Amazon’s Operations Network in North America and Europe.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in supply chain
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, operations, engineering, analytics or related field
Experience working cross functionally with non-tech teams
Completed Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Economics, or Business Analytics
Experience in a sourcing or supply chain management or equivalent role
Negotiation and supplier relationship experience required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience leading process improvements
Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
Experience building processes, project management, and schedules
Experience in construction, design, engineering, or architecture industries
Experience in pre-construction, cost engineering, or category management functions
Experience working with or for a construction subcontractor
