Job Summary

Spark France (Étincelle) is an investment initiative in partnership with Bpifrance, aimed at providing capital to fund managers investing in diverse entrepreneurs including women-led venture capital funds and managers investing in strategies that are positively impacting society and communities. We are seeking an Associate for Spark in Paris. This role will source, underwrite and execute primarily venture fund investments (with the potential for some later stage directs) and contribute to the broader global Spark platform.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Deal Sourcing: Identify and evaluate potential investment opportunities in various sectors and geographies. This may involve market research, networking, attending industry events, and meeting with entrepreneurs and startups.
  • Due Diligence: Conduct thorough due diligence on potential investments. This includes financial analysis, market research, competitive analysis, and management team assessments.
  • Financial Modeling: Develop and maintain complex financial models to support investment decisions. This includes forecasting, valuation, and scenario analysis.
  • Investment Execution: Assist in the execution of investment transactions. This includes deal structuring, negotiation, and coordination with legal, accounting, and other advisors.
  • Portfolio Management: Monitor and support portfolio companies post-investment. This may involve regular check-ins with management, board participation, and assistance with strategic initiatives.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present investment memos and portfolio updates to the investment team and limited partners.
  • Market Research: Stay up-to-date on industry trends, competitive landscape, and macroeconomic factors that could impact the portfolio.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members and contribute to a collaborative, learning-focused culture.

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills:

  • Relevant industry experience, including venture, private equity and investment banking
  • Excellent writing, communication, presentation, and analytical skills
  • Strong work ethic

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills:

  • Speaks French and English
  • Willingness to work effectively in a team environment
