The Assistant Project Manager works alongside the Project Manager to plan and execute the Design and Construction of a vessel. His/her duties include support Project manager in technical, planning and coordination, identifying stakeholders’ project needs and goals, creating a detailed plan to successfully complete a project, driving project reports and documents.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Management Support
- Assisting in the planning and implementation of projects
- Oversee and collaborates with Mission control to coordinate and manage project tasks and deliverables.
- Liaising with project stakeholders concerning project details and deliverables
- Performing other duties assigned by the Project Manager in an orderly and efficient manner.
- Assist in specification preparation for new building projects and updates contract specifications based on discussions with internal departments.
- Assist in drawing approval processes and reporting.
- Project’s Risk Assessment updates and reports.
- Assist project team to maintain good working relations with the yards responsible people.
- Develops the tools for credible project follow up with the yards.
- Follows and Reports project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems.
- Project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule changes; recommending actions.
- Oversees project status reports and presentations by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends, recommending actions.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Assist in specification preparation for new building projects and updates contract specifications based on discussions with internal departments.
Naval Architecture
o Participates and later takes the responsibility of the ship projects design and building process on the field of naval architecture.
- Responsibility over the ships hydrostatics, hydrodynamics, comfort, safety and energy efficiency.
- Responsibility over the ships pier and sea trials in Naval Architectural topics.
- Participates post-delivery support on board the delivered vessels.
KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Experience of shipbuilding project and programming processes.
- Good skills to read and analyze drawings and other technical documentation.
- In-depth knowledge of SOLAS, IMO, classification rules and marine standards.
- Fluency in English, other languages as advantage.
- Excellent teamwork skills.
- Good skills for communication and co-operation in multicultural working environment.
- Strong problem solving skills
- Proficiency in Excel, MS Word, MS Project or equivalent, PowerPoint.
- Willingness to travel and relocate.
QUALIFICATIONS : M. Sc. Naval architect with minimum 5 years of experience in the shipbuilding industry.
