The Global Labor Standards team (GLS) supports Amazon Worldwide Consumer ensuring consistency and reducing compliance risks in our employment practices and policies worldwide. The team informs Amazon Employee Relations (ER) services and drive accountability by ensuring prioritization, visibility and compliance of our HR policies and practices across business lines. The ultimate goal of GLS is to build the right Amazon Labor Standards that preserve our consumer brand, prevent business interruptions, protect operational flexibility, and sustain our ability to continuously improve the employee experience. GLS works closely with Ops, People Experience and Technology (PXT) and other stakeholders (e.g., Legal, Compliance, Public Relations (PR), Public Policy (PP), Social Responsibility) to achieve these objectives and coordinates closely with the ER team to continuously guarantee fair and consistent labor practices.
The Employee Relations Manager position within the GLS team is responsible for executing strategies and programs that reduce business risk and improve employee experience. The scope of responsibility includes, but is not limited to: inventorying, assessing, controlling and monitoring important PXT and employment-related risks where we do business. The scope also includes supporting global initiatives that support Amazon’s goal of being Earth’s Best Employer.
The position reports to the Principal Employee Relations within Global Labor Standards team at Amazon.com. This is a full-time position that will require international travel, up to 40% of the time over the course of the year to various Ops locations.
Key job responsibilities
– Evaluate, advise, and make recommendations relating to current global workforce policies, standards and initiatives so that all workers are treated with dignity;
– Perform research and participate in ER and compliance reviews to analyze vulnerabilities within countries as well as at regional level (EU, APAC, MENA, LATAM);
– Conduct internal audits around ER processes executions;
– Drive audits towards external main vendors and third-party partners, to identify and monitor ER risks beyond Amazon’s walls;
– Support ER and PXT in conducting training on labor relations and compliance (incl. consult on supporting documentation, such as manager and employee communications, FAQs, and standard operating processes);
– Work with project teams and ensure that initiatives are progressing and deliver expected results on time and in budget;
– Share knowledge and experience in ER industry best practices, constantly understanding the pulse on the new trends and initiatives (incl. monitoring coming laws, policies and procedures to allow smooth integration).
A day in the life
In this role the ER Manager will support on long term strategy for the increased effectiveness of our businesses by identifying, prioritizing and fixing employee experience defects. The programs will align Employee Relations’ curated services, technology, messaging, and auditing mechanisms to deliver results on behalf of our employees.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– A degree;
– Advanced proficiency in verbal and written English;
– Relevant experience supporting topics on employee and labor relations, in ER, HR or legal roles;
– Highly organized, being able to prioritize and to manage multiple priorities simultaneous, comfortable with high volume workload and confident when dealing with ambiguity;
– Experience in managing complex projects in international and/or matrix environments;
– Data-driven decision making or quantitative analysis skills;
– Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and influence at all levels in a matrix organization;
– Enthusiastic team player with a strong drive to create a positive work environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

– Advanced degree in law or labor/employment relations;
– Fluency in an additional European languages an advantage;
– Experience working across countries globally would be considered an advantage;
– Knowledge on European Employee Relations or employment law;
– Qualification in project management desirable.
