J.P. Morgan has operated in Europe for nearly 200 years and has a sophisticated local market presence across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Within the region, J.P. Morgan has an unparalleled client base and leadership across the spectrum of financial services products. We have offices in all major financial centres with a strong footprint in London, Paris and Frankfurt.
What You Can Expect
The analyst programme starts with a five week training programme in New York. Expert instructors and J.P. Morgan professionals will deliver a structured programme, including topics such as valuations, accounting, corporate finance, economics, equity capital markets, debt capital markets and risk analysis.
You will build your technical and practical knowledge on-the-job within the Credit Risk department. The team works in partnership with areas of the Commercial, Corporate and Investment Bank and is responsible for assessing client credit strength and approving and managing the firm’s credit risk. This risk (i.e. the risk of default) can relate to underwriting, lending and trading activities, including investment and non-investment grade syndicated loans, acquisition finance, derivatives, foreign exchange and other products.
Once on the desk, your responsibilities as an analyst may include performing evaluation/due diligence on a counterparty/product, monitoring risk sensitivities across specific counterparties and the portfolio as a whole, building financial models, performing bottom-up analysis in response to global events and preparing presentations to outline recommendations to senior management. Juniors play a key role within the team, with their work outputs being utilised for decision making.
You will have the chance to:
- Learn about credit risk at a global investment bank
- Work collaboratively across the entire organisation to proactively solve problems
- Analyse financial performance and operations/industry dynamics of companies and take responsibility of your own portfolio of clients within an industry
As part of the analyst programme, analysts will be assigned an industry team either in Financial Institutions Group, Corporates or Emerging Markets. The analyst program is an opportunity to take your career to the next level through hands-on experience, relevant training and valuable professional networking. The analyst programme will take place in the location specified in the application.
About You
A strong interest in global financial markets, investigative and quantitative skills, flexibility and attention to detail. A well-rounded academic background that includes extra-curricular positions is also of interest to us. We accept applications from all degree disciplines as we respect and admire diversity of thought.
Additional requirements include:
- Capability to multi-task and work under pressure
- Flexibility and the ability to cope with change in the dynamic market environment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, with the ability to prepare and deliver clear and concise reports and opinions.
- Willingness to take on responsibility and manage your own projects in collaboration with your colleagues
Beyond that, what we’re most interested in are the things that make you, you: the personal qualities, outside interests and achievements beyond academia that demonstrate the kind of person you are and the difference you could bring to the team.

Application Deadlines
Closes: 26th November 2023
Help us learn about you by submitting a complete and thoughtful application, including your resume. Your application and resume is a way for us to initially get to know you, so it’s important to complete all relevant application questions so we have as much information about you as possible.
To start the application, you will be prompted to enter your email address. Your email address will be used to create and maintain your profile so make sure it is one you will have long term access to. Do not use an email address with “.edu or .ac.uk” extension as doing so could result in delays receiving updates regarding your candidacy. After you confirm your application, we will review it to establish suitability for the role you have applied for.
If you are advanced to the next step of the process, you will receive an email invitation to complete a video interview, powered by HireVue. This is your opportunity to further bring your resume to life and showcase your experience for our recruiting team and hiring managers. These questions will focus primarily on your interest in the financial services industry and present you with an opportunity to showcase your motivations to join J.P.Morgan and the Credit Risk department.
The HireVue process is required, and your application will not be considered for further review until you have completed these questions. We strongly encourage that you apply and complete these required elements as soon as possible, since applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and programs will close as positions are filled.
The Assessment Centre process contains interviews and a case study, instructions of which will be sent to you before the Assessment Centre. You can expect a lead time of about four weeks between completing your HireVue and finding out if you have been invited to an Assessment Centre.
