Our business

The EMEA Credit Repo desk is a part of the Fixed Income Financing (FIF) business which sits within Rates Trading. The EMEA Credit Repo desk interfaces with a broad range of clients across hedge funds, asset managers, central banks, other dealers and internal cash desks. It is a multi-asset business providing liquidity across a broad spectrum of product types including IG, HY and Structured Credit in both short and longer term tenors. The desk sits within the global FIF business which also includes the Sovereign and Emerging Markets financing desks.

Opportunity

This role is an opportunity to work in a diverse trading role in the heart of the Credit Repo market. The main objective is to manage positions and risk arising from demands of both internal and external clients by facilitating their trading strategies, whilst ensuring compliance with the objectives of the firm at all times.

You would contribute ideas and operate in both short term interest rate markets and credit markets, using a variety of products to mitigate risks arising from trading positions. You would work closely with multiple teams and provide commentary and market analysis, as well as managing the day to day flow activity and risk in the trading book. The last few years have seen significant progress in the development of e-trading and electronification across the business, and there is opportunity to assist with further progress in this direction.

Job responsibilities:

  • Market making in DM corporate and structured credit bonds in repo
  • Optimisation of firm resources such as balance sheet, capital
  • Engaging directly with a broad array of internal and external counterparties to cultivate relationships and enhance the desk profile
  • Streamlining of desk processes where required to help advance the desk e-trading agenda
  • Oversight of the post trade process, ensuring the accuracy of all booking and to ensure internal controls are followed
  • Assisting with both pre and post trade execution/lifecycle maintenance of the structured repo book
  • Maintaining strict compliance with regulatory and legal requirements

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Prior repo experience, preferably in the credit repo space, or previous relevant experience gained within a similar Banking Markets role.
  • Understanding of overnight index swaps, interest rate futures as well as FX/cross-currency basis swaps
  • Interest and desire to learn more about global financing markets, rates and credit products
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple time sensitive processes in a pressured environment
  • Analytical mindset, with a proactive approach to problem solving
  • Ability to operate both autonomously, and as part of a broader team with a strong focus on collaboration
