Amazon MQ is a managed message broker service for Apache ActiveMQ and RabbitMQ that streamlines setup, operation, and management of message brokers on AWS. We are seeking a Principal Software Development Engineer to support the service team’s collaboration with the ActiveMQ and RabbitMQ open source projects.
As the right candidate, you will be able to work with a minimum of technical supervision. You’ll have experience leading or contributing to multiple simultaneous product development efforts. You’ll be able to balance technical leadership and savvy with strong business judgment to make the right decisions about technology choices and you will innovate rapidly. You will keep on top of the latest technologies and development trends, establishing and implementing best practices. You will develop productive working relationships with open source software communities, finding ways to work together in order to make substantial ongoing contributions to those codebases.
As a senior technical individual contributor you will join the ranks of Amazon’s esteemed Senior Technical Community, a cross-company collective of Principal, Senior Principal, and Distinguished Engineers.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
10+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
Knowledge of object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
A proven track record of contributing to and leading open source software development efforts.
Experience designing and building large-scale systems in a multi-tiered, distributed environment
