We are looking for a VP/ED level Trader to join our flow desk in Paris, located within the EMEA Equity Derivatives Group. The group engages in market making activities primarily on equities and equities related products. We facilitate liquidity in a variety of products including linear equity products, listed and OTC equity derivatives, dividend products and convertible bonds across major European markets and South Africa.

Our flow desk engages in market making activities on index and single stock flow derivatives to institutional clients including exchanges, corporations, pensions, hedge funds and other investor clients. We facilitate liquidity and client demand primarily in listed and OTC equity options as well as volatility and dividend products across major European markets as well as some activity in Middle East and South Africa. Trades are completed based on client requests received throughout the day. The main instruments used for primary market making activities are:

  • Equity index options
  • Equity single stock options
  • Index and Single Stock Volatility swaps
  • Index Variance Swaps and Variance options
  • Dividend swaps and options

Job responsibilities:

  • Index derivatives flow trading in high frequency liquid products
  • Managing risk and position sizing using OTC and listed products
  • Ensuring positions are correctly booked and reflected in risk systems
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with clients, including hedge funds, asset managers, and institutional investors
  • Providing market insights and commentary to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Analysing market trends and data to identify trading opportunities and optimize the equity index derivatives portfolio
  • Collaborating with internal teams, including Sales, Quantitative Research, and technology, to improve trading strategies and develop new products
  • Staying up to date with the market knowledge to provide comprehensive service to clients, also with news and regulatory changes

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Previous experience in trading (ideally more than five years)
  • Deep understanding of equity index derivatives and financial markets, particularly in the EMEA region
  • Solid analytical and quantitative skills, including the ability to analyse market data and develop trading strategies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and internal stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage risk effectively
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Finance, Economics, or a related field. Master’s degree or CFA qualification preferred, but not required
  • Fluency in English. Knowledge of other European languages is a benefit
