Insight Research analyst- Fixed Term Contract

Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) is focused on growing digital and direct-to-consumer (D2C) businesses and delivering next-generation products. Eurosport is a key part of this evolution and has already evolved from its legacy position as a linear TV channel to becoming a multimedia platform with emphasis on its digital assets. With the launch of discovery+ and discovery+ Sport, this evolution toward digital and D2C for sports content will only accelerate.

The behaviour of consumers is changing quickly, and understanding how consumers discover, pay for, and consume sports content in a D2C world remains a key challenge. The need to bring timely, accurate and insightful research, data and analytics to all business decisions remains a high-level corporate priority. Discovery+ Sport and Eurosport therefore have an increased need for consumer research, data and insights to guide our product, marketing and content decisions.

Your New Role…

The Insights team serves stakeholders from all departments: executive management, production, rights, digital products, brand and marketing. We undertake consumer research using a variety of methods to get sports fans’ input into our content. We also commission external research agencies and institutes, analyse 3rd party and syndicated research, create communication materials and more.

Our activity levels have increased significantly over the past few years. We send out over 300 surveys per year and connect with over 150,000 European consumers.

And with the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics around the corner and BT joint venture in the UK, the need to understand consumer needs is particularly high. Our stakeholders in the editorial, product and D2C teams need robust insight to shape the future of our products in 2023 and beyond.

With these changes in place and BT JV, our existing Eurosport Voice fan community needs to be transformed to a more flexible solution to easily add other channels/platforms from the entire WBD group on top of Eurosport. Throughout 2023 the community will be transformed to a partnership with panel providers.

The Insight Research Analyst will assist the Sport Insights Manager in their daily role to design questionnaires, analyse survey results, write presentations, and present results to stakeholders.

Your Role Accountabilities…

  • Drafting and programming online questionnaires using survey tools such as Decipher and Attest
  • Checking online survey test links in multiple languages
  • Coordinating with translation agencies and WBD research teams in other countries. Surveys are conducted in up to 12 European markets, so being multilingual is a key asset
  • Analysis of crosstab reports within the Decipher (Forsta) platform on the relevant target groups and filters
  • Using Microsoft Excel to undertake analysis on results exports
  • Create compelling presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint and creating engaging posts and video content on our internal social feed (Workplace by Meta)

Qualifications & Experience…

  • Proven experience in consumer research and interest in finding out what makes sports fans tick
  • Experience of using online survey platforms, such as (including but not limited to) Decipher, Qualtrics or Attest and the handling of crosstabs / results analysis.
  • Written and spoken French (mother tongue) and excellent English is essential for proofreading our surveys, daily interaction with English-speaking stakeholders and producing written reports in English.
  • Further languages are a plus, as we conduct research in up to 20 countries.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office including PowerPoint and Excel. Knowledge of Google Slides and Sheets is a plus.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis tools such as R or Q, or languages such as Python, would be beneficial but are not essential.
  • Interest in sport and following of sport news in the media.
  • Rigorous, reliable, and flexible with an organised and methodical approach to work. Capable of working on multiple projects at one time.
  • Degree-level education or equivalent
