Additional Information: This hotel is owned and operated by an independent franchisee, Westmont Management Ltd. The franchisee controls all aspects of the hotel’s employment policies and practices, including the selection and hiring process. If you accept a position at this hotel you will be employed by a franchisee and not by Marriott International.

JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Sales will be a commercially driven field sales manager, focused on managing the hotels’ selling strategies to maximize revenues and to outperform the market.

The Director of Sales will directly report to the General Manager and will be part of the hotels’ Executive Team, fully involved in leading the hotels’ business strategies and related sales performance. This position is a 1 year contract (1st of April until 31st of March 2024).

KEY FOCUS AREAS

• Experienced in MICE & Corporate contracting.

• To define, coordinate and perform sales activities (external and internal team) with the aim to maximize revenues in all areas (Rooms, MICE, Food & Beverage) of the hotel

• To represent the hotels in a professional manner towards customers and business partners from the local, national and international market in relevant business segments as well as our owners

• To ensure permanent and professional observation of the market and competition to identify business trends and to proactively generate business strategies according to the demand

• To lead, train & develop the Sales team and the Event team within the hotel by effective, target-oriented performance management

• To ensure the satisfaction and loyalty of the customers (Event team)

• To actively participate and contribute to in-house strategy meetings, to review opportunities and ensuring that the activities of the sales force are aligned with the strategy

• Ensures all internal and Marriott systems are always up to date.

• To ensure that the Marketing strategy is in accordance with Marriott’s Standards and serve the goals of the Hotel

MAIN RESPONSABILITIES

• Assist in the preparation of a challenging and meaningful budget each year

• To prepare and manage daily, weekly, monthly and annual sales action plans in order to identify opportunities and segments requiring action

• To review current contracts and align future contracting actions to maximize opportunities and revenues, to outperform the market

• To analyze the individual performance and booking patterns of accounts and segments and to be able to articulately explain strategies and results to the Executive Team and to the hotels owning company during monthly business review meetings

• To create and sell promotions and events as required

• To lead the Sales & Event team, ensuring that all hotels policies are adhered to

• To understand and interpret STR data to assist with hotel strategies to maximize revenues

• To work closely with the Revenue Management to optimize overall business performance

CORE COMPETENCIES

• Must have extended sales management experience in a similar position and hotel operation, ideally know-how of the local and/or national market

• Excellent interpersonal skills: capable of maintaining presence, high level of empathy to communicate, interact and network effectively and professionally with divers’ customers, business partners, the management, and direct reports alike

• Ability to motivate, coach and manage the performance of team members to deliver desired outcomes and results within allotted time frames

• Ability to take initiative to identify, prioritize and implement processes/actions required to completion and success and to ensure deadlines are met. Ability to work well under pressure and effectively handles multiple and concurrent demands. Ability to collaborate with others and act in an objective manner to stay on track to achieve common goals

• Experience to influence others inside and outside of the organization in a planned, well-informed way to ensure quality and quantity of results

• The ability to readily modify, respond to and integrate change with minimal personal resistance. Must be able to adapt to changing environments and readiness to travel for business national and internal

• Comfortable with accountability and makes considered business decisions willingly and in an analytical and strategic manner

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Languages:

• French mandatory (speak and write).

• English mandatory (speak and write)

• Additional language: added value.

Miscellaneous:

• Local Market knowledge, both corporate and leisure

• Ideally Opera knowledge

• Team Leading experience

• Catering and Events experience (proactive sales of events and reactive a plus)

• Ideally chain background

• Number affinity and experience in sales reporting
