Job description:
The Customs Regulatory Affairs Advisor acts as a link between FedEx and regulatory authorities, ensuring that business operations are in compliance with appropriate legislation.
The Advisor identifies all relevant changes in international trading practices and legislation which can have an impact on FedEx by the processes of reading all relevant documents and demonstrating market awareness.
The Advisor influences advantageous or prevent disadvantageous changes at EU level by predicting short and long term impact and opportunities.

Key responsibilities:

• Study regulatory and legal documents regarding customs regulations
Monitor and anticipate legislative and jurisprudential developments in the field of UCC/VAT/
e-commerce, etc
Monitor relations with TAXUD, as well as with the regional customs authorities

• Monitor and anticipate legislative and jurisprudential developments
Assist in preparing (and back-up) attendance in EC working groups

• Keep up to date with changes in regulatory legislation and guidelines.
Share this information at Reg calls/ Reg alerts/ Sharepoint/ (coordinator)
Internal networking/collaboration with legal

• Prepare documents for liaising and negotiating with regulatory authorities
Follow-up developments in the framework of trade and IPR

• Provide advice about regulations to GTS
Be involved in ad hoc projects (on demand from GTS). Provide technical advice to key
accounts by translating customs regulatory legislation into business specific issues.

• Represent FedEx in specialized committees
Attend the meetings EEA/CTF and Amcham EU/customs.

• ISO 9001 coordinator for the Customs Regulatory Affairs department

Special requirements: the candidate (will) lives in Brussels or maximum 250 km from Brussels

The ideal candidate will have :

  • Strong Customs, Operations and/or Business Background
  • In depth knowledge of International Customs Conventions, standards and guidelines and European Customs law and other relevant areas related to the importation and exportation of goods (such as VAT, excise duties, IPR regulations, valuation & origin rules)
  • Time management skills
  • Problem-solving skills

Excellent problem evaluation utilizing technical knowledge and relevant sources to respond
to complex requirements from key accounts
Experience of developing new/innovative solutions to complex business issues

  • Presentation/ Communication skills
